As part of the Masterplan for Growth’s first phase of delivery, the project Steering Group proposes a targeted market research study is commissioned to identify the core needs of St Neots’ existing business community
To boost the vibrancy of the town centre and make it more visually appealing and easily accessible space there are aspects which need to fall in place to increase footfall and therefore economic activity in the centre. The Masterplan package includes a provision to; provide cycle parking in and around the town centre, and to improve bus stop infrastructure.
Future Takeover was an event held in St Neots in January 2019 that offered evening and daytime activities and asked residents to think about how creativity, data and emerging technology could support the growth of the town.
St Neots has an exciting opportunity to become one of the UK’s first ‘smart’ market towns and lead the way for other market towns in Cambridgeshire.
As there is already a wide breadth of events taking place across the town, the Masterplan project should look to build on the success of established events, opening them to a wider audience and enhancing the offer.
The construction of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge for St Neots town centre has been identified as a major opportunity in the Masterplan. This wider scheme will now play a key role in linking the Market Square with the riverfront.
